Also the reason that the cat did this is actually because they are mirroring their owner. If their owner treats the thing (or in this case book) with respect and has made it very clear with their actions that the thing is important the cat will take notice and mirror this behavior!

I remember reading somewhere that the role of the Republicans in the US system is to force through a policy with fanfare and populist bluster (i.e. the War on Terror as a literal war), and then the role of the Democrats is to institutionalise the policy while absorbing resistance to the policy (the War on Terror is now special forces all over the world and drone strikes, the anti-war bloc votes Democrat to get rid of Bush and a large portion of that bloc are placated with a change of head and removal of the glaring populist bluster). I think it’s pretty true with Biden v Trump
